Remember being a kid on Easter morning?

It was kind of like Christmas morning...but there was A LOT more candy involved!

Whether you loved finding a box of Peeps or a an egg filled with jelly beans – you probably had a favorite treat. A candy that takes you back to your childhood!

So, in that spirit, we made a list of our Top 5 nostalgic Easter treats. Let's see if you agree with our list...

(And maybe learn a fun fact or two in the process!)

1. Peeps

No Easter basket is complete without these iconic marshmallow treats. Peeps, with their adorable chick and bunny shapes, have been delighting taste buds since the 1950s. Created by the Rodda Candy Company in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Peeps were originally hand-squeezed from pastry tubes until automation streamlined the process.

Over the years, Peeps have become a cultural phenomenon, inspiring art contests, dioramas, and even Peeps-flavored beverages. Peeps continue to captivate generations with their fluffy texture and sugary sweetness. 😊

2. Chocolate Bunnies

The chocolate bunny is an Easter staple that has been enjoyed for centuries. Originating in Germany in the early 19th century, chocolate bunnies were introduced as part of Easter celebrations, symbolizing the arrival of spring.

In the United States, chocolate bunnies gained popularity in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with confectioners crafting intricate molds to create the perfect bunny shape. Today, chocolate bunnies come in a variety of sizes and styles, from solid milk chocolate to hollow bunnies filled with candies or caramel.

3. Jelly Belly Jelly Beans

Jelly beans have been associated with Easter for decades, but it was the creation of Jelly Belly jelly beans in the 1970s that elevated these sugary treats to superstar status. With their intense flavors and vibrant colors, Jelly Belly beans revolutionized the jelly bean industry.

The story of Jelly Belly beans began in 1869 when Gustav Goelitz opened a candy store in Belleville, Illinois. Over the years, the company evolved and experimented with new flavors until the Jelly Belly brand was born. With flavors ranging from buttered popcorn to toasted marshmallow, Jelly Belly jelly beans offer a flavor adventure with every bite.

4. Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs

For peanut butter lovers, Easter wouldn't be complete without Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs. These egg-shaped treats, filled with creamy peanut butter and coated in rich milk chocolate, first appeared on store shelves in the early 1960s.

Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs are a spin-off of the classic Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, which were introduced in the 1920s. The Easter version quickly gained popularity, offering a larger ratio of peanut butter to chocolate that fans couldn't resist. Today, Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs remain a staple of  candy aisles and Easter baskets everywhere!

5. Whoppers Robin Eggs

Whoppers Robin Eggs are a seasonal spin on the classic malted milk ball candy. These egg-shaped treats, coated in a pastel-colored candy shell, evoke memories of springtime and Easter egg hunts. Introduced in the 1980s, Whoppers Robin Eggs quickly became a favorite among candy enthusiasts.

The history of Whoppers dates back to 1939 when the Overland Candy Company introduced the chocolate-coated malted milk balls to the market. The candy was later acquired by Hershey's, which continued to produce Whoppers and introduced the seasonal Robin Eggs variation. This candy takes us back to the good ol' days!
